How these matches are calculated
Every shade is mapped to a shared system: depth (1 = fairest, 10 = deepest) and undertone (Cool, Neutral, Warm, or Olive). The converter finds the Estée Lauder Double Wear shade closest in depth, weighted 70%, and undertone compatibility, weighted 30%. It's the same engine behind our interactive matcher.
Two caveats: brands classify undertones differently (MAC's NC/NW runs opposite to most), and formulas oxidize differently — a matte formula can darken 1–2 levels over a few hours.
FAQ
How accurate is this Charlotte Tilbury to Estée Lauder Double Wear conversion?
Each match is scored on depth (how light or dark) and undertone compatibility. Matches above 90% are usually very close; between 80–90% expect a slight difference in undertone or depth. Formula differences (matte vs dewy) and oxidation also affect how a shade looks on skin, so always swatch in natural daylight before buying full size.
